Privatisation is a controversial economic and political policy that elicits diverse opinions and academic conclusions on its impact. With regard to its impact on workers'rights, the privatisation literature concludes that the existing normative framework cannot be fully relied on in the protection of workers'rights on privatisation, hence the need for its complementation by the social plans - the latter being a series of measures put in place to cushion the negative effects of privatisation. Just as Labour Law, the social plans principally involve three parties : workers, employers and the government. Each of these parties holds conflicting but legitimate interests which they ardently seek to pursue and at all times and not only during restructuring. Unfortunately, all stakeholders, notably workers'organisations are not adequately consulted in the design of Cameroon's restructuring programme in general and the social plans in particular, and this leads to problems at the implementation stage. ...
