| Résumé : |
The concept of the family differs from one culture to the other. Whatever its meaning, the family is undoubtedly under siege from destructive forces - a result of modern living. The family is the most important single avenue in human procreation and in the nurturing of children into responsible adults. The family either prepares children to reach their ultimate destiny and fulfillment or cripples them from attaining their full potential. The quality of the family unit reflects the quality of society. Unfortunately it is at this point that diverse forces attack the family causing disharmony and strife. Will today's family survive ? What strategies need reinforcing for the family's survival ?
The family is instituted by God and continues to survived because of His grace and mercy. Marital harmony and family cohesion is a spiritual principle only gained from one's trust and dependence on the power and Will of God. The Psalmist states, "If Yahweh does not build a house in vain do its builders toil" (Ps 127:19). God ordained the family as an avenue of peace and justice, achieved by its members' proper adherence to gospel values. |
