Philippe Pelletier geographer has long in this development, emphasizing between nature and society and seing the declassification of geography in favor of ecoogy he sought to understand the reasons for this evolution and to do so he returned to the origins of ecology.
German intellectuals played a sentral role in this development, emphasizing the role of nature in the organization of societies. Several factors explain tit, including the legacy of Protestantism, which has a direct relationship^between the individual who believes and "nature" creation of God ; religion which also reorganises politics This concept did not have the same success in France due to republicanism and secularism. But the French geographers who proposend another aproach to the nature/society interface have not succeeded in imposing it. According to the author, the creaction of the IPCC (1988) is in line with two key moments of global environnemental governance : the Meadows Report (1972), with its sponsor, the oligarchic, scientist and politico-diplomatic Club de Rome (1968), which addresses climate issuees but briefly and incorrectly ; and the Brundtland Report (1987) on policy-driven sustainable development.
